Successes of the Advice Connect Project
Strong partnership and sustained investment
Advice Connect has been delivered by both Citizens Advice Haringey (CAH) and Pro Bono Community (PBC) since October 2020. The National Lottery Community Fund has continued to recognise its impact, awarding a further £140,092 in summer 2024 to extend the project for two years from September 2024.
Targeted support for residents most at risk
The service provides remote legal advice to Haringey residents facing housing and social welfare challenges, with a specific focus on under-40s in the private rented sector. This group continues to experience the long-term financial effects of Covid-19 alongside significant pressure from the cost-of-living crisis.
High demand and strong delivery
Between September 2024 and August 2025, Advice Connect supported:
-
454 individuals
-
827 issues, the majority linked to housing, particularly rent arrears and eviction risks
All advice was delivered digitally and remotely, ensuring accessibility for people who cannot travel, have irregular work patterns, or need support outside traditional advice settings.
Reaching diverse and marginalised communities
The service is effectively supporting people who often face the greatest barriers to justice:
-
55% were from non-white backgrounds
-
58% were women
-
38% identified as disabled or having a long-term physical or mental health condition
Significant financial outcomes for residents
To date, Advice Connect has recorded £751,286 in financial outcomes for clients, including income gains, reduced expenditure, reimbursements, and loans. This already exceeds half of the upper target range set for the project, demonstrating strong early performance.
A proven, scalable digital model
Advice Connect continues to show that high-quality, digitally delivered legal advice can reach those who are often excluded from traditional services and achieve meaningful, measurable outcomes.
